The Beulah Primitive Baptist Church will be hosting its 4th annual Senior Citizens Day on Friday, May 7 and lasting from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The free expo is co-sponsored by the Alabama Association of Resource Conservation and Development Council.

All activities will take place on the grounds of the church at 3304 County Road 37 South in Hope Hull.

“The Beulah Family is very pleased to offer this event to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of senior citizens to home, family, church, and society,” said Pastor Tom Gardner, III. “We are especially thankful for the vision and work of our Seniors Ministry.”

Vendors who are attending will include Amedisys Home Health, Alabama Cooperative Extension Systems, Family Service Center of Lowndes County, Oxford Healthcare, the Social Security Administration, South-Central Alabama Development Commission, Viva Medicare Plus, United Healthcare Secure Horizons, ACH Great Health and Positive Income and Ariel Home Medical.

The expo will focus on health and wellness issues and displays will be offered by exhibitors and agencies.
Information on topics such as Medicare, Medicaid, long-term health care, and living wills will be discussed and disseminated. Limited health screenings will be available.

This year’s theme for the event is entitled Hawaiian Luau where seniors can play games such as bingo and horseshoes and enter talent contests for who has the best hat, skit, poem writing and storytelling skills.

Special entertainment, door prizes and giveaways will also be a part of the festivities as each vendor has been asked to bring a door prize in addition to the give-away bags for the seniors attending. Lunches will be provided free of charge, courtesy of Balley.

“Members have worked tirelessly on the expo as they do throughout the year with our seniors. That’s why the program has shown significant growth from year to year.  All senior citizens are invited to attend,” said Gardner.
Pre-registration for individuals is strongly encouraged but not required, according to Theresa G. Douglass, Beulah’s Coordinator of Seniors Ministry.

Groups or senior centers are asked to pre-register and place orders for commemorative t-shirts ($8) by calling Mrs. Douglass at 334-265-9974.
