The Rebels are now 5-2 overall and 2-2 in regional play.

For the Rebels, Jon Johnson scored on a 34-yard run and John Taylor kicked the extra point to put Lowndes up 7-0 in the first quarter.

Things stayed that way until SMCA sacked Johnson for a safety to make the score 7-2 at the half.

However, Brandon Reid scored a touchdown in the third quarter, and Brian Rayburn hit Jesse Foley for the 2-point conversion to make the final score 15-2.

Reid finished the night with 19 carries for 146 yards rushing along with eight tackles. Johnson had 17 carries for 71 yards rushing and had an interception on defense. Rayburn had two catches for 45 yards and a interception. And Mason McCurdy had eight tackles on defense.

“Our defense played great tonight. Offensively we were sloppy and not sharp. We must get that shaped up for the playoffs,” Taylor said.

He went on to say, “I am proud of our kids for making the playoffs…. it was big thing for us and our program.”

The Central High Lions fell 44-16 to Southside High – Selma in non-regional bout at home to go 1-8 on the season. The Lions are now 1-4 in Class 2A Region 3.

For Central, Jaylin Rush scored from 17-yards out and Diamonta Johnson caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Keegan Blackman. Also David Baldwin scored a 2-point conversion.
