Mid-South RC & D holds community outreach in Fort Deposit on Wednesday

Mid-South RC&D will be hosting a community outreach meeting specifically targeting residents in Lowndes County needing assistance with home improvement at Fort Deposit Town Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The meeting will share information on federal and state programs and funding opportunities for land and homeowners, municipalities, volunteer fire departments, school systems and small businesses provided through the 2014 Farm Bill.
This community information meeting will be conducted by USDA Rural Development Services. And (RD) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will be on hand concerning what opportunities are available.
The meeting is for rural residents, VFDs, Municipalities, small business and single-family homeowners with limited income needing assistance with renovations, septic tank, roof repair, etc., as well as, purchasing materials, which will enhance community development.
All farmers, landowners and residents in Lowndes and surrounding counties are encouraged
to come learn about federal and state grant, loan and technical assistance programs that can help manage or finance pastureland, agriculture crops, woodland/timber, community gardens, and other natural resource.
There will also be a presentation on the Community Enhancement grants, Rural Energy Programs, Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants, Rural Business Opportunity Grants, Small Socially-Disadvantaged Producer Grant, Value-Added Producer Grants, Rural Cooperative Development Grant Program and much more.
