Women’s Day

Antioch Baptist Church at 10303 Alabama Highway 21 South will host a Women’s Day Celebration on Sunday, March 24 at 11 a.m. Guest speaker is Minister Melvia Carter with Special Guest Sister LaShadra Myrick, Lowndes County Probate Judge.

County Commission

The Lowndes County Commission will hold its bi-monthly board meeting on March 25 at 6: 30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Charles Smith Annex Building inside the Lowndes County Commission Chambers.

Family Conference

First Missionary Baptist Church in Hayneville will host its Annual Church Family Conference March 30-31. Speakers for youth, women, and men are scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with an Easter Egg hunt following. On Sunday, service begins at 11 a.m. followed by Family & Friends Day at 1:30 p.m.

Get Lit Bus

The Lowndes County Public Schools’ Get Lit Bus will stop in Hayneville on April 6 starting at 9 a.m. Come by and get on and enjoy learning. Contact the schools’ central office for more information.

Calico Fort

The 52nd Annual Calico Fort Arts and Crafts Fair is scheduled for April 13-14.

Silent Auction

A McCurdy Adoption Silent Auction fundraiser will be held April 19 at Hayneville Baptist Church beginning at 6 p.m. The event will feature a taco bar and live music for $25. Children 12 and under are free. Contact Laken at (251) 227-5288 to purchase tickets.

LCUWP Applications

The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday, Wednesday, or Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

Head Start

The Lowndes County BOE has opened Head Start registration for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2024-2025 program year. Current immunization records, proof of income, and proof of age are required to register. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

Scholarship Deadline

The Elmore Bolling Initiative 2024 scholarship application process has opened. Applicants must be 2024 prospective graduates of Central or Calhoun high schools. Deadline to apply is April 1. Visit bollinginitiative.org/our-impact/scholarship to apply.

Music Fest

Join Unity Baptist Church in Whitehall April 13 for a Music Fest honoring Pastor and Lady McReynolds. All choirs, groups and soloists are invited to attend. The event begins at 4 p.m.

Elder Law

Lowndes County Extension is hosting a Community Pro Bono Elder Law Clinic April 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Whitehall Town Hall. Senior adults aged 60 are invited to register for an appointment by calling (334) 548-2315.
