“I was with the Montgomery PD and just wanted something new for my peace of mind,” Adams said. “I love the people here and the environment.”

Adams expressed his appreciation for the close connections he has formed with coworkers, emphasizing the family-oriented atmosphere of the department.

“I love them to death. The whole department is very close and family oriented,” Adams said. “In Montgomery, I’d get up, go to work, and come home. It’s so different when you get to work with your best friends.”

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris West commended Adams, noting that while every member of the team deserves recognition, Adams was selected for special recognition by a recent community vote.

“He was recently awarded Deputy of the Year,” West said. “He really is a stand-up guy.”

Adams shared that his work with the department has been a journey of personal growth, one whichtaught him valuable lessons about the man he wants to be.

“When you work in such a small community, you often interact with the same people on multiple occasions,” Adams said. “You have to know the people and how to interact with them to find a way to diffuse the situation that works for everyone.”

In addition to duties as a night shift supervisor and a member of the SWAT team, Adams is involved in mentoring young boys as part of a talk group at Jackson Steele School. He also assists the department’s Information Technology (IT) department, showcasing his commitment to both his profession and community.

Adams’s dedication and passion for his work make him a valued member of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and his recognition as the hero of the week is a testament to his exemplary service.
