Chief DeMarcus Weems of The Town of Mosses will host a drive through meet and greet to connect with residents of the city.
“It’s an opportunity for me to get a chance to interact with the community,” Weems said. “I want to meet them one on one and develop a personal relationship with everyone. I want them to know my expectations as the police chief.”
The event will be Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Mosses Town Hall located at 1 Mosses Park Circle in Hayneville, AL.
Vendors, free food, resources and PPE products will be made available to attendees, and music will be provided by DJ Grandmaster of 365 Jamz Entertainment.
Alabama House Representative Kelvin Lawrence, Mosses Mayor Willie B. Hill, Coroner Terrell Means and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office will be in attendance.
“It’s gonna be like a big family reunion,” Weems said. “The goal is to bring the community together.”
COVID-19 safety guidelines will be strictly enforced, and Chief Weems asks that attendees stay inside their cars.
“We want to keep everyone safe,” Weems said. “We’re going to pass out masks and we’re taking donations for hand sanitizer and gloves to distribute amongst the community as well.”
