Tigers/Lions rage on the basketball court

While severe weather threatened outside with a tornado warning and later a tornado watch, Saturday, Jan. 19 the Calhoun Tigers and Lady Tigers and the Central High Lions and Lady Lions produced stormy competition on the basketball court at the Jackson-Steele Community Center gym in White Hall.
The Calhoun Tigers improved to 20-6 overall and their first 20-win season since 06-07 with a 68-60 victory over the Central Lions. And the Central Lady Lions eked out a one-point 51-50 victory over the Calhoun Lady Tigers to go 5-0 in area play and 15-4 overall.
Calhoun Tigers head basketball coach Ervin Starr saidJerdarrian Davison led the Tigers with 21 points, four assists, three blocked shots and four steals and Jamichael Boone scored 19 points.
Lady Lions head basketball coach Terry Thomas said Derrica McMcall led the Lady Lions with 15 points, Melody Walker scored 14 points, Cordasia Harris scored 11 points and Kadaijah Williams scored 10 points.
