In Fort Deposit, Two arrested for possession of controlled substance

Two Fort Deposit residents were arrested Friday, Sept. 4 for possession of a controlled substance in connection with the alleged distribution of synthetic marijuana.
Agent J.K. Barnes of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit said Friday morning, the Special Operations Unit with the help of Fort Deposit Police Department and Hayneville Police Department served a search warrant on Edgewood Drive in Fort Deposit.
According to Barnes, the search warrant was in reference to the alleged distribution synthetic marijuana. Also, according to Barnes, synthetic marijuana was allegedly recovered during the search of the residence that was packaged for sale.
“Two suspects were arrested during this operation,” said Barnes. He identified the two as Laurentis Quartaz Martin, a 34-year-old black male and Maria Mack, a 28-year-old black female.
He said both are residents of Fort Deposit and both charged with Possession of a controlled substance.
