In White Hall area, Two motorcycle collision claims two lives

A collision involving two motorcycles resulted in two deaths in Lowndes County on Saturday, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
Sgt. Steve Jarrett said, “Jeffrey Sawyer, 21, of Greenville and Zackary Smith, 13, of Greenville were both killed when the motorcycles they were operating collided.”
Jarrett said the crash occurred at 10:15 p.m. on Goldsmith Road five miles north of Whitehall on Saturday, July 5.
He said, “Helmets were not in use.”
Deputy Coroner/Acting Coroner Walter S. Hill said shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night three individuals were riding motorcycles in the White Hall area off of Henderson Lane.
He said a collision occurred and that Smith was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:48 a.m. and Sawyer was pronounced dead at 1:40 a.m.
Hill said a third individual was expected to be treated and released.
Jarrett said, “Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.”
