Fatal accident claims life of Calera man Sunday

A single-vehicle crash Sunday, July 6, claimed the life of a Calera man.
Sgt. Steve Jarrett of the Alabama Department of Public Safety said, “Justin McDowell, 30, was killed when the 2006 Mercedes Benz he was driving left the roadway and overturned.”
He said The crash occurred at 7:27 p.m. on U.S. 80 eastbound at the 100 mile marker, one mile east of Dallas County.
Lowndes County Deputy Coroner/Acting Coroner Walter S. Hill,
Hill said Sunday night a single vehicle flipped several times and the driver was partially ejected.
He said the driver died at the scene and, “I pronounced his death at 8:45 p.m.”
Hill said the Collirene Volunteer Fire Department, Care Ambulance and State Troopers responded to the scene.
Jarrett said nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
