Cancer Survivors Banquet
The Lowndes County Relay for Life Survivors Banquet will be held Saturday, March 22 at the Hayneville Baptist Church Life Center from 4-6 p.m. There will be a Mardi Gras theme, so come dressed with your favorite mask.

Turkey Rodeo
The 2014 Lowndes County Turkey Rodeo will be held Saturday, March 22 with weigh-in and lunch at Harrell and Sons Farm in Hayneville. The Southern Land Brokers will sponsor this year’s event. Fort Deposit United Methodist Has Guest Speaker
The Rev. Eric Jackson, pastor of Lifeline Church in Greenville will be the special guest speaker at Fort Deposit United Methodist Church, located at 110 Milner St. on Sunday, March. 23. The service will begin at 10:55 a.m. with a time of gathering and welcome.

Senior Olympics
The fifth annual Lowndes County Senior Olympics will be held Wednesday, March 26 at the Jackson-Steele Community Center in White Hall from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Auburn Montgomery recruiting graduate school students for new program
A new distance learning graduate program for teachers, offered by Auburn University at Montgomery’s School of Education, is coming to southwest Alabama. Learn more about the program at an information session on March 29 at 2 p.m. at the Monroe County School District’s central office.

Head Start Recruiting
The Lowndes County Board of Education Head Start Program is currently recruiting all eligible 3 and 4-year-old children for the 2014-2015 program year.
The following items are required for enrollment: Certified birth certificate or hospital record; current immunization record (Blue Shot Record); proof of income and proof of residency; insurance card and Social Security Card and photo I.D.
The child must be 3-years-old by Sept. 1, 2014. Additional Enrollment Items needed: Completed dental examination, completed health assessment, hearing, vision, lead, height, weight, TB skin test, pulse, blood pressure, hemoglobin and hematocrit, statement of medical diagnosis, asthma, food allergies, etc.
NOTE: If your child does not turn 3 until after Sept, 1, 2014, please come in for interview with above items and your child will be placed on a waiting list. When the child turns 3 he or she will have an opportunity to be placed in a classroom if any vacancies exist.

Faith, Family and Friends Day
Sellers Memorial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in White Hall (the Black Belt Community) will celebrate its 5th annual Faith, Family and Friends Day on Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. The public is cordially invited. Elder Clifford Jackson Sr. is the pastor.
