Alabama State Troopers worked a two-vehicle fatal accident that claimed the life of a Monroeville man and had northbound Interstate 65 traffic blocked between Letohatchee and Fort Deposit Friday afternoon.

According to State Trooper Charles Dysart, the two-vehicle accident occurred at 1:20 p.m. on Interstate 65 northbound four miles north of Fort Deposit and resulted in one fatality.

Lowndes County Coroner Doris Alexander confirmed the fatality, identified by Dysart as David Keith Moody, 55, of Monroeville, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Tracker. Alexander said Moody was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:50 p.m.

Alexander also said Moody’s wife, Martina Moody, was injured and air lifted.

Dysart said the accident occurred when Moody’s vehicle collided with a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Leslie Hollingsworth of Hoover.

“Moody’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned after the collision,” Dysart said.  “Moody was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.  Hollingsworth was not injured.”

No additional details are available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate this crash.
