Weather forecasters are warning that there is a high possibility of intense thunderstorms tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Lowndes County for tonight.

A weather statement issued from the NWS said, “severe thunderstorms will be possible across all of Central Alabama this afternoon and this evening as a cold front moves southward across the area.”

Local forecasters predict the biggest threat to occur between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m., and that the storms have the potential to produce wind in excess of 60 mph.

Straight-line winds and hail are potential threats.
