Lowndes County organizations receive three grants

The Black Belt Community Foundation awarded three grants to community and arts organizations in Lowndes County on Saturday, June 2.

According to information provided by the Black Belt Foundation, receiving grants were Lowndes
County Citizens United for Action, $3,000; the Lowndes County Community Life Center, $2,000;
and the Student Tutoring and Enrichment Program $3,000.

The Lowndes County Citizens United for Action grant is to support the 2012 Alabama Okra
Festival.

The Lowndes County Community Life Center is for a summer enrichment camp for arts and music
through painting, drawing, dancing, piano and quilting.

The Lowndes County STEP Program grant is for fine arts classes, workshops and museum field
trips for toddlers through teenagers.
