Due to potential impending severe weather all Lowndes County Schools will be dismissing at 1 p.m. today, Thursday, according to Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Walter Hill.

Lowndes Academy has already closed for the day.

Hill said the county is under a tornado watch and all first responders and law enforcement have been put on monitoring alert standby and will be available for emergency activation.
