The FBI is investigating a Friday afternoon attempted bank robbery at the Burkville branch of BancorpSouth Bank on Highway 80 in Lowndesboro, according to Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams.

Further details are unavailable at this time.

According to a late Friday afternoon 911 dispatch, bank robbery suspects were on U.S. 80 near the Montgomery/Lowndes County line in a white sedan headed toward Selma.

The FBI is also still investigating a Friday, Nov. 4 robbery at the Fort Deposit branch of BancorpSouth located at 307 East Jones St.
