The FBI is on the scene and investigating a bank robbery in Fort Deposit that occurred at about 12 noon today (Friday), according to Supervisory Special Agent Media Coordinator Douglas Astralaga of the Mobile Division.

BancorpSouth Bank branch, located at 307 East Jones St., Fort Deposit was robbed today, according to Division Bank President John Lyon. However, Lyon could not provide any details.

The Signal has also been unsuccessful in getting any details from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department or Fort Deposit Police Department.

Special Agent Astralaga said the FBI is on the scene, investigating and “following every lead.”
