A Thursday afternoon collision between a Lowndes County Sheriff’s vehicle and a Lowndes County School bus on Lowndes County Road 33 in Letohatchee resulted in no injuries to students or the drivers, according to State Troopers.
The accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Lowndes County Road 33 in Letohatchee about two miles north of The Calhoun School and involved a Lowndes County 2009 Bluebird school bus and a Lowndes County 2005 Crown Victoria sheriff’s vehicle, according to State Troopers.
Lowndes County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Boyd said the bus was stopped with its flashers on and stop sign out.
He said the sheriff’s vehicle skidded in the rain and the back end of the sheriff’s vehicle struck the back end of the bus with very low impact.
Boyd said while there were 12 children on the bus, no one was injured in either vehicle.
Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams declined to comment on the accident which was investigated by State Troopers.
