A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle late Sunday afternoon.

Ernest Louis Patterson, 41, of Hayneville was struck while walking “in the roadway,” authorities say.

“As a result of being hit, the injuries he sustained caused his death,” said Hayneville Police Chief Kelvin Mitchell.
