R.C. Hatch outguns Central

R.C. Hatch outmatched Central 64-22 in a Friday night in a wild offensive shootout.
“The offensive lines playing was not as good as it was the week before,” said Coach Keith Scissum. “The Hatch defense was able to hold us on a couple of plays.”
Key defensive plays included costly turnovers as Hatch picked off two interceptions from the Lions offense and returned them both for touchdowns.
This week the Lions featured quarterback Tracy Tillman in place of Timothy Williams.
Tillman had a 50 yard scoring strike to T.J. Saffold during one of the Lions series.
On separate plays, running back Darious Bennet scored touchdowns on punt and kickoff returns to add points to the board for Central.
The Lions were also able to punch through the Hatch defense to score two, two-point conversions against the Bobcats.
Tillman secured one of the conversions with a quarterback sneak and another with a pass to Saffold.
Central may be looking to swap Tillman for Williams at quarterback depending on what he is able to demonstrate at practice, according to Scissum.
Tillman and Williams have been rotating as the Lions’ quarterbacks for the past several games.
The Lions will take on the Marion Rams (0-3) at home Sept. 17 after the Rams 47-26 loss against American Christian Academy of Tuscaloosa.
“I think we will match up with Marion pretty well,” said Scissum. “They have a couple of good running back, so we’ll have to work on stopping those things.”
