Lowndes County’s Public School System will be seeing some changes in personnel for the 2010-2011 school year.

The decision was made June 11 by the school board, according to Lowndes County Board of Education Superintendent Daniel Boyd.

Kenneth Fair, Director of the Career Technical Center located in Mosses adjacent to Central High School,  will replace Robert Gardner as principal of Calhoun High School. Gardner will now supervise transportation and work with students regarding absence issues.

“Gardner’s skill set will allow him to provide student services in these areas,” Boyd said.

Former Federal Programs Director Regina Thompson will take the position of Transformational Specialist to “improve teaching and learning and work between the State Department of Education, consultants and the Lowndes County school system.”

“Thompson is really strong with curriculum instruction,” said Boyd. “This will enable her to work toward improving teaching and learning across the school district.”

Boyd said the change will be an improvement of Lowndes County’s public school system and will have no negative effect.
