A single subject has been arrested and two others are being held for questioning in connection with a fight that took place on Pecan St. in Hayneville.
Reports indicate a birthday party held by Ingrid Rivers escalated to a physical confrontation resulting in charges of breaking and entering, burglary, felony assault, criminal mischief, two confiscated weapons and the use of a tazer.
Hayneville firefighter Terrell Means responded to Pecan St. after receiving a call late in the evening on June 13 indicating a fight had broken out, according to Hayneville Police Chief Kelvin Mitchell.
When authorities arrived, windows and door frames valued at over $1,000 were damaged and a Wii game console stolen from Ingrid River’s apartment. Police, firefighters and paramedics worked to control the scene after one man, Jerel Means, had been hit with pepper spray and another received injuries and had to be transported to the hospital.
Travis Rivers, 24, was rushed to the hospital where he received stitches for a gash in his head.
Cecil Fagg, 20, has been arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit after the subject failed to cooperate with police. The suspect had to be tazed.
The altercation has led Hayneville to reconsider the classification of what defines a public event and led law enforcement officials to find additional means to prevent these types of situations in the future.
