Two duffel bags of marijuana were recovered by a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputy on Wednesday.
Around 4 p.m. on I-65 near mile marker 148, Deputy Sheriff Al Cox pulled over a tractor-trailer to perform a routine search of the vehicle.
Cox located a hidden compartment underneath the sleeper in the vehicle’s cab, which looked to be a subwoofer-speaker box. Contained in the two duffel bags recovered were seven bundles of marijuana.
“The vehicle was scheduled to arrive in Tampa, Fl. by Monday night to deliver the contents of the trailer,” said Sheriff Chip Williams.
James Lozano, a 36-year-old male and Hugo Candanosa, a 21-year-old male have been arrested and charged with drug trafficking by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff’s Department will be filing condemnation on the truck and trailer and the owner of the contents in the trailer has been contacted to recover his materials.
