Chamber Meeting

The Lowndes County Area Chamber of Commerce will host its next meeting June 12, 8 a.m. at Deepwoods Restaurant 345 South Commerce Street in Hayneville. The group will discuss plans for the upcoming Juneteenth Prayer Breakfast.

Responder Training

Ramblin Thunder

The sixth annual Sheriff “Big John” Williams Ramblin Thunder 4/5 Motorcycle Rally will be held June 14 starting at 8 a.m. at the Hayneville town square to support scholarships for local high school students. Visit www.ramblinthunder45.com to learn more.

Juneteenth Breakfast

The Lowndes County Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Juneteenth Prayer Breakfast June 19, 8 a.m. at Deepwoods Restaurant 345 South Commerce Street in Hayneville. The event will celebrate Black Belt civil and voters’ rights. Tickets are $20.

Parenting Together

The Family Service Center of Lowndes County offers intensive co-parenting services for mothers and fathers working together to nurture their children. Mom Classes

Pre-K Program

First Years Child Development Center, First Class Pre-K offers a free 4-year-old program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for working parents and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for non-working parents. Classes start in August. Space is limited. Call Katina Surles at (334) 281-8627 for more information.

LCUWP Applications

The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

Head Start

The Lowndes County BOE has opened Head Start registration for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2024-2025 program year. Current immunization records, proof of income, and proof of age are required to register. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

DAV Meetings

The DAV William “Bill” Cannion Chapter 100 meets the second Saturday of each month, from 8-9 a.m. at the Lowndes County Board of Education at 80 Commerce Street South in Hayneville. All veterans are invited to participate. For information, please call or text (281) 416-6156.

Alumni Basketball

Fun Day

Calhoun CDC is planning a community “Fun Day in the Park” on Saturday, June 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Calhoun Community Park 77 Calhoun Cut Off Road in Letohatchee. Fall Festival

Fall at the Fort: A Holiday Festival is set for Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Calico Fort in Fort Deposit. Come enjoy arts and crafts exhibitions, a car show, food, children’s activities and more. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for children.
