The Lowndes County Children’s Policy Council met Wednesday, May 7, to announce six students had been selected to receive awards through the Sheriff John Williams Memorial Scholarship. District Judge Adrian Johnson presented the awards in a ceremony held in the main courtroom of the Lowndes County Courthouse.
Through generous community donations and fundraising efforts by groups like The Calhoun School Class of ‘76, the scholarship fund awarded $2,000 to two students from each of the area’s three high schools, awards which will go directly to each recipient’s school of choice. Recipients are: Adraya Martin and Tyler Robinson from Calhoun, JaMaxin Lewis and Zaryah Flowers from Central and Riley Lane and Katie Lockhart, students at Lowndes Academy.
