Community-based organizations awarded BBCF grants

The Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) celebrated the impact of its 2025 combined Community Grants and Arts Grants cycle Saturday, recognizing organizations serving citizens across 12 Alabama counties. 

A total of $344,447.20 was awarded through 141 one-year project grants to 126 different community organizations impacting their communities by strengthening, innovating and advancing the success of Black Belt citizens and their communities they call home. Four organizations directly serving Lowndes County were recognized for received grant awards at the foundation’s banquet held Saturday, May 3, in Selma.

Representatives from the Hayneville/Lowndes County Public Library were present to celebrate receiving Arts Grant awards at the event. Also present were leaders from the Burkeville Volunteer Fire Department, Hope on the Hill Ministry, the Lowndes County Community Life Center and the Student Tutoring and Enrichment Program (STEP).
