Wellness Coalition hosts A Tour of Wellness May 3
The Wellness Coalition is hosting its fourth annual A Tour of Wellness community health fair series in Montgomery, Letohatchee and Shorter over three weekends in late April, early May, and early June. The events are free and will feature local organizations, vendors, and activities, all focusing on increasing access to health and wellness services.
“We’re looking forward to bringing A Tour of Wellness back to the River Region for its fourth consecutive year,” says Belkys Gomez, The Wellness Coalition’s program coordinator. “Attendees will enjoy free health services and information, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities while learning about and connecting with numerous health resources.”
The Calhoun School will host Lowndes County: A Tour of Wellness Event May 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees will enjoy a free lunch, refreshments, music, prizes and a kid’s zone as well as access to health and wellness resources.
For the first time, The Wellness Coalition is partnering with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority–Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter to sponsor A Tour of Wellness Montgomery event. A steadfast pillar in the River Region since 1941, the sorority is dedicated to promoting its founding principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Finer Womanhood through organizational programs, volunteer efforts, and advocacy.
“We are committed to serving and expanding our impact within the community,” explains Latolya Morton, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority–Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter’s 2nd vice president. “The Wellness Coalition offers a range of valuable services and resources that align with our core principle of Service, particularly in promoting a lifestyle focused on health and wellness. Our collaborations with organizations such as The Wellness Coalition’s Tour of Wellness Montgomery enable us to educate the community on available resources and uphold the mantra of our international headquarters, the Power of S.H.E: Social Justice, Health Justice, and Economic Justice.”
The Montgomery County A Tour of Wellness Event will take place Saturday, April 26, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cleveland Avenue YMCA at 1201 Rosa L. Parks Avenue in Montgomery.
Attendees at each event will be able to connect with local agencies and vendors about free programs and services, including health screenings, breastfeeding and maternal support, diabetes prevention and management, health insurance enrollment assistance, wellness case management services and much more.
Those interested can visit thewellnesscoalition.org/tow to see a complete list of services prior to the event.
“By providing support and information through events like A Tour of Wellness, we hope to continue empowering River Region residents to take charge of their health,” continues Gomez. “The Wellness Coalition has always been 100 percent community-focused, and these events demonstrate our commitment to improving the lives of our residents while offering them a day of activity and togetherness.”
