The 53rd Annual Calico Fort Arts & Crafts Fair was held Saturday and Sunday, April 12 – 13. A fan-favorite among Butler and Lowndes County residents, the two-day festival featured homemade and handcrafted delights for the young and old alongside returning attractions and a few new delights.
Lowndes County’s own District Judge Adrian Johnson, joined his wife, Mandy, and daughter Harper to perform again at the fair this year. The Greenville Camellia Society Queen Karya Likely and Debutants Emilee Myrick, Anya Cobb and Rakiya Peterson also sang and played ukeleles for audiences as one of the many acts featured during the fair.
The younger crowd interacted with a menagerie of friendly animals as part of the free petting zoo sponsored by Mid State Stockyards and McLane-Garrett Cattle Company while older children waited their turn for the popular center attraction — a bungee jump.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Posse directed traffic for the event and the Greenville High School Key Club joined The Calhoun School Athletics program to help out with crafts, face painting and more.
