Spring has sprung and students have returned to the classroom and the field. Athlete of the Week round 24 is open, and it’s time to hit one out of the park to support the student athletes representing Lowndes County. Fans can cheer on their favorite student-athlete in the bleachers while casting their vote online all weekend.

Nominated for recognition this week are JaKobian Davis from Central High School, Lowndes Catie Wallace Self and Makayla Saffold student-athlete at The Calhoun School.

The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Athletics are partnering to highlight our young men and women in the Athlete of the Week contest. Thanks to the help of Calhoun Lighthouse, Lowndes Academy and Central High School, Hayneville and our sponsors Blackbelt Unincorporated Wastewater Project and Hayneville QV, we have an opportunity to encourage student-athletes and reward their dedication.
