The Lowndes County Juneteenth Celebration Committee presented the winner of The Resilient Village $1k Scholarship to Adraya Martin, a Calhoun High School student. Martin will graduate with honors, currently holding a 4.1 grade point average (GPA). She has aspirations of attending The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to pursue studies in Biology and Neuroscience. Martin has been accepted to UAB, Sanford University, Auburn University, Tuskegee University, Alabama State University, University of Alabama, Alabama A&M University, Louisiana State University (LSU), Morgan State University, Belhaven University, Mississippi State University, Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM), the University of Alabama in Huntsville, the University of Memphis, Clark Atlanta University, Georgia State University, the University of Iowa, Wallace State, Trenholm State Community College, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Talladega College and Stillman College.
Martin attends Greater Mt. Olive AME Zion Church in Hayneville.
