Students at Jackson-Steele Elementary Head Start explored literacy during Read Across America Week March 3 – 7. Community partners read to students as part of the National Education Association’s literacy initiative which began with Read Across America Day, March 3, giving a special focus on celebrating the March 2 birthday of beloved children’s author, Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. Lowndes County Sheriff’s Student Resource Officer, deputy Kandace Thomas, was one of several Head Start partners who visited the classroom to help children discover the magic of reading.
