In a ceremony held on Sunday, March 16, Lowndes County student Alacia Brazil was awarded a scholarship by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians (PBCI) in recognition of her active involvement in Alabama’s vibrant livestock industry. The award was presented during the Southeastern Livestock Exposition (SLE) Rodeo.

At the heart of the event, the PBCI reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth engagement in livestock activities. Through its scholarship program, the Tribe seeks to empower young people across Alabama, fostering their passion for agriculture and offering opportunities for continued growth and development in the field.

The ceremony, attended by PBCI Tribal Council Member Dewitt Carter and SLE President-Elect Galen Grace, celebrated the recipients’ accomplishments and highlighted the collaborative spirit within Alabama’s agricultural community.

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has a long-standing tradition of supporting youth involvement in agriculture. Each year, the Tribe awards scholarships to deserving individuals from all 67 counties in Alabama, helping them pursue their passion for livestock-related activities or further their education.
