The Lowndes County Children’s Policy Council (CPC) has announced its March Character in Action award winner, naming a sixth grader who exemplifies good character among her peers.
Hayneville Middle School teachers nominated 11-year-old Molly Dison for the award describing her as an exemplary student. Dison was also recently recognized as the school’s Student of the Month.
“She is dedicated to giving her best effort in all her endeavors, whether in academics or extracurricular activities,” nominators said. “With a passion for learning, she continuously seeks opportunities for personal growth.”
The sixth-grader assists her classmates who are struggling with their schoolwork and, according to the school’s administration, participates in various school activities, including the spelling bee and Math Bowl. While working toward academic excellence and displaying outstanding character, Dison is also known to take on a leadership role at home by helping care for younger siblings and striving to be a positive role model for them.
When asked about her motivation for helping others, Dison said she enjoys supporting others towards success.
“Being nominated for Character in Action motivates me to keep pushing myself and to contribute positively to our school community,” Dison told her teachers. “Thank you for this incredible recognition.”
According to District Judge Adrian Johnson, who chairs the CPC, the Character in Action program is an effort to recognize and encourage positive behaviors among students. Award recipients receive a certificate, program t-shirt and a $100 Walmart gift card.
