Butterfly Garden

A National Butterfly Day event will be held at Cornwallis 1828 on March 14 at 9 a.m. with a groundbreaking for the Butterfly Garden Project. Cornwallis is located at 17204 State Highway 21 in Braggs.

Heirs’ Property

Pre-K Program

The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

Head Start

DAV Meetings

The Lowndes County District Baptist Association is hosting a health and wellness summit at Baptist Hill Baptist Church March 22, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Health screenings and resources will be available with a presentation from Probate Judge Lashondra Myrick.

Commemorate and honor family members who shaped the history of Lowndes County by creating a family ancestry tree to display during the Lowndes County segment of the Selma-Montgomery March event on March 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Early entry deadline is March 8. Flint Knapping

A flint knapping presentation by local artisan Brandon Blackmon will be held at Cornwallis 1828 in Braggs, March 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Blackmon will demonstrate traditional methods for shaping flint. Tickets are available for $25 at www.historicalcornwallis.com. 

Elegant Evening

An Evening of Elegance featuring Men of Valor in a musical program is planned for Sunday, March 23 at 4 p.m. at Mt. Gillard Missionary Baptist Church, 8376 U.S. Highway 80 West in Tyler.

Quilt Gallery

On March 27, the Cotton Street Gallery in Andalusia will host the Gee’s Bend quilters at the Andalusia Train Depot with an interactive demonstration from 3 – 6 p.m. and a lecture from 6 – 7 p.m. tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children. For information email swiggins@airartists.org.
