Surles voted Athlete of the Week

Amari Surles has been voted Lowndes County Athlete of the Week for Week 20. He is a sophomore at Central High School where he plays basketball as a guard and small forward for the Lions. He earned 14 points in the end-of-season matchup against Tuscaloosa Academy.
Surles earned the honor this week by capturing 49%, 139 out of 283 votes cast in the contest.
Alice Murchison at Lowndes Academy and Mariah Champion from The Calhoun School were also nominated for their athleticism and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. Congratulations to Murchison and Champion for being nominated this week.
Athlete of the Week is made possible by the joint efforts of The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Public Schools Athletic Director Ervin Starr and sponsors, the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program and the Hayneville QV, as well as the cooperation of the coaches and administration of Central High School, Lowndes Academy, and The Calhoun School.
