The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has charged a local man with an early Saturday morning murder.

Traiderrius Managan, 24, turned himself into the department Feb. 22 after the murder which occurred at about 2:13 a.m. that morning. According to Sheriff’s Investigative Commander Anthony Green, Managan has been charged with one count of murder for the shooting death of Robert Jermaine McCall, 35, at J and J Lounge in Benton.

“Deputies responded and found Mr. Robert Jermaine McCall suffering from multiple gunshot wounds,” Green said. “He was then picked up and transported, and he [died] on before making it to the hospital.”

During the investigation, Managan was identified as a suspect and later identified as a shooter.

“We don’t know officially what happened, but what we do know was inside the lounge there was some sort of verbal altercation between Mr. McCall, and people he was with, and Managan and the people he was with. Security at the lounge escorted both parties outside. Shortly after going outside, shots were fired, causing the death of Mr. McCall.”

Acting Patrol Commander Rene’ Webster said the determination of investigators Pierce Vongsavanh and Randell Johnson led to the speedy arrest.

“Lowndes County investigators have such pure passion and dedication to solve and complete their cases,” Webster said. “They work as a team. Everyone was off Saturday, yet they stayed from 2:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and had selfless synergy to make a successful arrest.”

Managan surrendered to officers Saturday morning around 10 a.m., Green added. He was booked into the Lowndes County Jail with bond set at $250,000. Managan has since bonded out of jail.

The shooting is still under investigation. Green said no further information is available at this time.
