An Editorial Opinion of The Lowndes Signal
Where do you go to find out what’s happening in your community? And when you want to invite area residents to your event, how do you get the word out?
The Lowndes Signal has a new, free tool to help readers with both questions. The online calendar, available at www.lowndessignal.com, is a one-stop-shop to access current events in Lowndes County.
One-time and recurring events are listed in order by date and time so that viewers can see what is happening today, this week or in the future. By clicking on the listing, viewers can view event details — the who, what, when and where — and access directions to the event locations.
While viewing the event, readers can add the listing to a personal event-keeper or integrate The Lowndes Signal calendar with their own digital planner. Viewing options range from a day, a week or a month at a time.
The online calendar mirrors events listed in the Community Calendar printed on page three of each issue and the Faith Family Calendar found on page seven. And while the print issue is limited due to space, the online calendar features all events submitted to our newsroom.
Individuals or groups planning events can send notice to our newsroom via an email to news@lowndessignal.com. By letting us know of your upcoming event, you get a two-for-one deal — publishing online and in print.
In addition, events submitted for the community and faith family calendars are fodder for our coverage, enabling newsroom staff to prepare to share your who, what, when, where and, most importantly, your why.
We urge our readers to utilize the new online calendar, which is available without a subscription. We also hope you will send us news of what you are planning, so that we can help you spread the word and plan to cover your community happenings.
