Basketball season has ended for Lowndes County student-athletes who are already on the field for the opening of softball and baseball matchups. Athlete of the Week round 20 is open, and the contest is the community’s opportunity to support the student athletes representing Lowndes County.

Nominated for recognition this week are Amari Surles from Central High School, Lowndes Academy’s Alice Murchison and Mariah Champion, student-athlete at The Calhoun School.

The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Athletics are partnering to highlight our young men and women in the Athlete of the Week contest. Thanks to the help of Calhoun Lighthouse, Lowndes Academy and Central High School, Hayneville and our sponsors Blackbelt Unincorporated Wastewater Project and Hayneville QV, we have an opportunity to encourage student-athletes and reward their dedication.
