Gordon voted Week 18 Athlete of the Week

J’Vyion Gordon has been voted Lowndes County Athlete of the Week for Week 18. He is a sophomore at Central High School in Hayneville, where he plays basketball as a guard for the Lions. Gordon scored 30 points in the team’s win against JU Blacksher on Jan. 24 and was named MaxPreps basketball player of the game for the second time this season. So far, he has made 172 points, 56 field goals and 51 rebounds on the season.
Gordon earned the honor this week by capturing 54%, 87 out of 162 votes cast in the contest.
Thad Bowman at Lowndes Academy and Keonte Abrams from The Calhoun School were also nominated for their athleticism and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. Congratulations to Bowman and Abrams for being nominated this week.
Athlete of the Week is made possible by the joint efforts of The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Public Schools Athletic Director Ervin Starr and sponsors, the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program and the Hayneville QV, as well as the cooperation of the coaches and administration of Central High School, Lowndes Academy, and The Calhoun School.
