The Lowndes County Commission met for its fourth-Monday meeting Aug. 26 to conduct the following business:
* Heard testimony from a Sabic worker reporting unfair labor practices;
* Approved contracts for all county voting precincts;
* Approved minutes for July – Aug. 12 commission meetings except those for the July 24 minutes due to a request for updates from Commissioner Robert Harris;
* Appropriated $500 to Life Changing Outreach from Commissioner Joseph Barganier;
* Appropriated $1,000 to Harvest Tyme;
* Approved appropriations from Barganier to local volunteer fire departments — $12, 000 to Fort Deposit, $12,000 to Burkeville, $14,000 to Sandy Ridge and $4,591 to Calhoun; and
* Approved appropriations from Commissioner Dickson Farrior to local volunteer fire departments — $32,591 to Burkeville and $10,000 to Hayneville.
The Lowndes County Commission will meet next on Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. inside the commission chambers at the Charles Smith Annex Building.
