For our student-athletes, the end goal of any season is to finish with a state championship in their respective sport, and Lowndes Academy football standouts will have a chance to double its war chest with a second-consecutive season of championship trophies and rings.

A win for the Rebels at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery today would extend head coach Shane Moye’s winning streak in the postseason to six games and send six senior players riding into the proverbial sunset as far as their high school accomplishments in the sport go.

The team looks to be ready after breezing through the postseason with playoff victories over Snook Christian (68-12 on Nov. 4) and Southern Academy (35-0 on Nov. 11).

If the Rebels continue to produce, particularly on defense, where they’ve forced 11 turnovers in a two-game span, these athletes stand to have a reasonable opportunity for a title against undefeated Jackson Academy (12-0). The two teams met in the championship a season ago, with Lowndes Academy prevailing 21-6.

We hope these athletes receive plenty of love and support from their local community, and people will do their part to pack the Cramton Bowl and let these kids know what their efforts mean to the school and town.

Good luck to the Rebels. May your travels be safe and your spirits be high as you work to bring another championship home.
