Lowndes Academy basketball update

The Lowndes Academy boys’ and girls’ basketball teams experienced both success and failure following their matchups during the week of January 10.

On Monday, January 10 the varsity girls lost on the road to Edgewood 29-41.

Haley Briggs led the team with 18 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals and three blocks.

Molly Powell scored five points for the team with nine rebounds, seven assists and one block.

Ashlyn Holley and Abigail Glushick scored three points. Holley had eight rebounds, one assist, one rebound and one block while Glushick had three assists and one rebound.

The junior varsity girls defeated Edgewood 30-15.

Cameron Hess led with 11 points and six rebounds

Haylon Self scored four points and four rebounds

Addison Bridges, Alice Murchison and Kinley Dismukes each had three points

Catie Wallace Self, Madilyn Clarke, and Marlee Patton each had two points.

The varsity boys beat Edgewood 49-41.

Parker Harris led the team with 18 points with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Colby Briggs has a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds with one assist.

Jackson Self scored five points with five rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Trey Thomas scored four points with seven rebounds and one assist.

Ashton Yelder and Watters Box scored two points each.

Yelder had 13 rebounds and one assist while Box had five rebounds, one assist and two steals.

The junior varsity boys lost to Edgewood 26-8.

Reid Owen scored five points and had four rebounds.

David Callaway scored two points and Grant Casey scored one point.

Following their game against Sparta on Tuesday, January 11, the varsity girls walked away with a 37-53 loss.

Haley Briggs led the team with 16 points, nine rebounds, two steals and one block.

Molly Powell scored 15 points with five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Harley Hooper scored four points with three rebounds and one steal.

Alice Murchison scored two points.
