Lowndes Academy fell to South Choctaw 41-6 in a regional game to go 4-3, 1-3 in AA, Region 2.

Lowndes Academy head football coach Shane Moye said, “South Choctaw played hard. Offensively, we couldn’t put the ball in the end zone when we were in the red zone, and we couldn’t stop them. They dominated the entire game on both sides of the ball. We didn’t play well at all.”

Trevor Haney scored Lowndes Academy’s only touchdown of the night on a 2-yard run.

The Rebels host Clarke Prep in a regional game, Friday, Oct. 12.

The Central Lions fell to Samson in a regional game 52-0 to go 0-6, 0-4 in 2A, Region 3.

The Lions host Zion Chapel in a regional game for homecoming, Friday, Oct. 12.

Calhoun fell New Brockton 54-0 in a regional game to go 06, 0-4 in 2A, Region 3.

Calhoun head football coach Ervin Starr said his Tigers played much better at New Brockton than the previous week, but made too many mistakes to stay in the game.

While Star said his Tigers had a couple of big stops in the red zonedefensively, “New Brockton made big plays when they needed to, to win by the wide margin.”

Tyrese Seawright had an “outstanding game running the ball,” said Starr with 16 carries for 101 yards. However, he said, his team’s inability to get off clean snaps all night stopped Calhoun.

Starr said defensively, Andre Carter had eight tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks.
