Lowndes students make All-Metro teams

Lowndes County students from Calhoun and Central and Lowndes Academy were among those recently named to the Montgomery Advertiser’s 2018 Class 1A-4A All Metro Boys and Girls Basketball Teams.

Boys

From Class 2A Area 6 in the Alabama High School Athletic Association, J.D. Davison, a 6’1” freshman guard from Calhoun was named First Team Boys All-Metro.

He averaged 13.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. He had 50 blocks and 63 steals and set the Calhoun freshman records for assists, rebounds and blocks. Calhoun finished 17-8.

Named Honorable Mention was Calhoun’s JaMichael Boone.

Named Honorable Mention from Class AA Region 1 of the Alabama Independent School Association was Lowndes Academy was Jon Johnson, a 5’10” senior guard. He averaged 11.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and was an AISA All-Star.

Named Honorable Mention was Lowndes Academy’s Moseley Higgins.

Girls

From Class 2A Area 6, Derrica McCall, a 5’6” sophomore guard from Central-Hayneville was named First Team Girls All-Metro.

She was named Class 2A second-team All-State, averaged 21.6 points to help the Lady Lions to go 16-8.

Named Second Team Girls All-Metro was Toni Young, a 5’10” junior forward from Calhoun.

She averaged 17.4 points and 11.7 rebounds and had 17 double-doubles in 21 games and has been named All-Metro twice.

Named Honorable Mention was Central-Hayneville’s Cordasia Harris.

From Class AA Region 1 of the Alabama Independent School Association, Laiken Hussey, a 5’7 junior guard from Lowndes Academy was named First Team All-Metro.

She was named AISA All-State honorable mention, averaged 9.1-point and 4.3-rebounds.

Named Second Team All-Metro was Madolynn Headley, a 5’9” senior forward who averaged 7.6 points and 8.1 rebound per game and had three double-doubles. She was an AISA All-Star.
