Drive-by shooting kills one, injures another in Mosses

Jesse Thornton of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) confirmed Monday that the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating a drive-by shooting in Mosses on Saturday that left one dead and one injured.

Thornton said no arrests have been made.

Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams told the Signal, “The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, along with the SBI is investigating a drive-by shooting that took life, Willie Shanks, 60, and wounded another, Curtis Vandiver, 55.” He said the matter is an “ongoing investigation.”

Williams said the shooting occurred Saturday night, Jan. 6, and the that Sheriff’s Office received the first call about the incident at about 9:17 p.m.
