Sheriff’s Office investigating18 head of cattle stolen in Letohatchee, Reward offered for arrest and conviction of cattle thief

The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA) is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who stole 18 head of cattle from Mid State Stockyards in Letohatchee during the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 6.
In addition, Chief Deputy Chris West of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department said, “We have an ongoing investigation. We’re going to get ALEA’s, (the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency) Rural Crime Unit to assist.”
West said the case will be considered theft of property in the first degree.
Dick Farrior, one of the owners of Mid State Stockyards, said the 18 head of cattle were valued at “about $850 each.” He said they were “stolen April 6 at 2:30 a.m.”
Farrior described the suspect vehicles as a late 80’s or early 90’s dark green Ford F-350 crew cab with about a 30-foot black trailer driven by a white male.
According to the ACA, as a member of ACA, Mid State Stockyards in Letohatchee falls under the protection of the Cattle Theft Reward Program. This program awards $1,000 to anyone who offers information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who steal or destroy cattle owned by ACA members.
