Benton/Mushatt roads closed, Heavy Rains keep Lowndes Highway Department busy

Mushatt Road is closedBenton Road BAs of Monday, Mushatt and Benton roads remain closed in Lowndes County as a result of flooding.
Lowndes County Engineer David Butts submitted photos of all the roads listed in this article, except Benton, and the status of Lowndes County roads affected by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day rains that were the cause of flash flood warnings for the county by the National Weather Service.
Mushatt Road, featured photo, was closed on Christmas Day due to exposed pipe, repaired and reported reopened on Saturday. But by Monday, Butts reported the road was closed again due to the pipe being washed out.
Benton Road, next photo down, was reported closed on Saturday (photo by Fred Guarino/The Lowndes Signal) and remained closed Monday.
Mims Road, next photo below, was closed due to exposed pipe but was reopened to the public on Christmas Day.
Till Road, next photo below, was closed due to exposed pipe but was reopened to the Public on Christmas Day.
And Lowndes County Road 32, last photo below, was never closed, but water reached the shoulder of the road.
