On Wednesday, Dec. 9 at about 5:25 p.m. the Montgomery Police Department reports that Montgomery Police and Fire medics responded to Selma Highway and Alatex Road in reference to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a elderly Hayneville woman.
According to MPD spokeswoman Denise Barnes, the crash involved a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer and a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. She said, “The driver of the Lincoln, Bertha Britt, 81, of Hayneville was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Barnes said, “MPD’s initial investigation indicates that the Freightliner was turning from Alatex Road onto U.S. 80 when the Lincoln struck the trailer.”
She said accident investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash, and no further information is available for release at this time.
