A Florida man who was the subject of a traffic stop for driving recklessly, Thursday, died of an unknown medical condition at the scene in Lowndes County.
Sergeant Steve Jarrett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Public Information/Education Unit said paramedics were unable to save John Scriver McDowell, 85, of Winter Haven, Fla.
Jarrett said that just after 11 a.m. on Sept. 18, “Alabama State Troopers responded to a call of a vehicle driving recklessly on Interstate 65 (southbound) in Lowndes County.”
He said troopers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and it was discovered that the driver, McDowell, was “suffering from an unknown medical condition.”
Jarrett said, “Paramedics were dispatched to the location but were unable to save McDowell.”
He said McDowell was pronounced dead by the Lowndes County Coroner and that nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
