The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department is seeking help from the public to find witnesses and identify suspects in connection with a May 21st burglary in the second degree at Stuckey’s located on Tyson Road in Hope Hull.
Sgt. M.V. Green, an investigator with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, said that at 1:51 a.m. on May 21, two unknown males allegedly entered the parking lot of the Stuckey’s located at 1122 Tyson Road in Hope Hull driving a white Ford Econoline van.
He said the van had “Valley” written on the upper rear side.
Green said the driver alleged used the van’s front driver’s side bumper and quarter panel to move an ice machine from in front of the business window. And the two subjects allegedly exited the vehicle and knocked out the front window to gain entry.
“Once inside both subjects (allegedly) immediately ran to the ATM machine located in the back of the store and tried to remove it from the bolts holding it to the floor, but were unsuccessful.”
He said, “One of the subjects (alleged) ran behind the register and appeared as if he was looking for a store safe.”
Green said the store manager lives at the business and was present during the offense.
He said the subjects allegedly exited the store back through the window and were last seen getting on I-65 North in the van.
Green said, “Both subjects appeared to be black males with one having several tattoos on arms and neck, red hat, red tank top shirt and jeans.” He said the second subject was wearing a white or light colored baggy T-shirt and blue jeans. And he both were wearing gloves.
Green said the van was allegedly stolen out of the city of Montgomery from Valley Services Inc. located on S. Forbes Drive. He said, “The vehicle will have damage to the front bumper and driver’s side front quarter panel.”
According to Green, “To this date the van has not been recovered. Warrants will be signed upon identification of the offenders. Any contact should please notify Sgt. Green with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at 334-548-2222 or 334-239-1712.
Green said the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Montgomery City Police Department, Opelika Police Department and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers to find witnesses and identify subjects who might be related to the crimes.
